Once you get your full set of teeth back, you should do everything you can to preserve them. If you have dentures, call Dental Care Center of South Kansas City at 816-399-5539 to book an appointment every six months as you normally would so you can maintain your oral health and your replacement teeth!
For your convenience, we offer a wide range of restorative dentistry procedures and other dental treatments for patients of all ages at our Kansas City, MO dentist office. We can help you improve and sustain your oral health even if you’ve lost every tooth in your smile.
Our dentures options are convincing in how they feel and in how they look. Whether you’ve lost several adjacent teeth or every single one of your chompers, we have dentures options to suit your needs. With our help, you’ll be able to:
- Smile wide and proud when it’s time to say “cheese” for the camera
- Eat your favorite foods again without difficulty or discomfort
- Grin, laugh, eat, and even sneeze without worrying about your false teeth coming loose
We know it can be difficult to fit the dental cleanings and exams you need into your busy schedule, so we offer some flexible appointment times before and after normal nine-to-five business hours. For example, we are open early at 7:00 a.m. on Thursdays and stay late until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Avoid Problems With Dentures By Visiting Us Regularly
If you have dentures, you may think that you don’t need to maintain regular dental visits because your replacement teeth are not real. But the truth is, routine dental exams are absolutely necessary even if you have a full set of dentures in your upper and lower jaw.
Just because you’ve lost all of the teeth in your mouth does not mean that your oral health situation can’t get worse. If you don’t see a professional every six months, you could develop a number of other issues. For example, you could develop a gum disease or miss tell-tale signs of oral cancer without thorough examinations twice a year.
Regular dental appointments are also good for your dentures. When you visit us, we will evaluate how well your dentures are fitting your mouth and make any adjustments if necessary. This will help your dentures last longer and prevent slippage so your replacement teeth will stay where they should, in your mouth, firmly held in place on your gums.
If there are any problems with your dentures, we will do our best to adjust and/or fix them. Dentures can be quite expensive. Repairing problems while they are still small and easily managed will save you time and money in the long run. By taking good care of your dentures, you’ll also avoid having to go without teeth while replacements are made.
When you visit us for routine visits, we can also tell you if there’s anything you should be doing differently to better maintain your oral health and your dentures. Just like your natural teeth, we will be able to tell if your oral hygiene habits are less than ideal and offer advice on how to fix the problem.
Along with coming in to see us for regular evaluations, you should also be doing various things to take care of your dentures on your own. We will review proper maintenance habits with you so you’ll know what to do. Depending on the type of dentures you have, you should:
- Remove them each night and soak them in a special denture cleaner
- Rinse your dentures thoroughly and brush them with a denture brush after you take them out and before you put them back in
- Be sure to clean off all the denture adhesive before you soak your dentures or replace the adhesive and put your dentures back in
- Handle your dentures very carefully during cleaning, possibly putting a towel down on your sink or filling the basin with water to provide a more gentle landing if you do drop them
Dentures are not made to last forever, partially because your mouth will continue to change after you have them. That said, with proper care and routine visits with a professional, your dentures can last for many years to come.
Don’t let a situation get bad right after you’ve solved your problem. If you have dentures and want to make sure they last as long as possible, visit Dental Care Center of South Kansas City every six months for professional examinations. Call 816-399-5539 or use our online form to book.
