They would expect to come in, be treated well, be given a tour of the practice so that they don't just come in and blindly sit down and open your mouth and shut up type of thing. We don't want that. We want them to come in, if they've got problems with their insurance we've got a special consultation room they can sit in to fill out any paperwork that they need to do. We're there to help them with that. Once they're through, we're going to give them a tour of the office. We always like to give a little beginning gift and that's just to set things off right. To let them know we're about them and that's what the whole purpose of it is. We work very hard to pick colors and lighting and everything that is very soothing and relaxing. It makes a person feel like they're more at home then sitting in some dental office. Those are the things we've worked at.
When we're done we want to always let that patient, we walk them back through the process and make sure that they're understanding everything. We try along every step of the way to explain procedures both what's going to happen dentally and then also to explain the financial side of it. The one thing I've always said is I want to set up a situation where when somebody does something, they know what they're getting into. The biggest way to destroy relationships is to be ambiguous about things or not have them know. We want them to know what's ahead for them, what's this going to cost, what they can expect insurance to do. It's very important to have all those explanations out so that people have a good understanding of where they're at and what they're doing.
Dr. Gregory Stiver earned his doctorate of dental surgery (DDS) from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Dentistry in 1984. After graduating, he worked as an associate in a dental office before he started his own practice in 1986. He now works as the CEO and owner of Dental Care Center of South Kansas City, as well as providing dentistry on a day-to-day basis.
Dr. Stiver believes in the importance of furthering his education so that patients are always getting the best care possible in our office. He has advanced education hours in IV sedation and dental implant dentistry. By offering advanced sedation and tooth replacement solutions, Dr. Stiver is able to help many patients who would otherwise have to suffer decades with dentures.
When he is away from the office, Dr. Stiver enjoys going out on two wheels. He is an avid bicyclist and enjoys the exercise. Dr. Stiver is married to Ginger, whom you might also see around the office. He is a father to three children: Lauren, Clayton, and Mallory.
