Do you experience dental fear or anxiety? Have you been avoiding a trip to the dentist due to these feelings? You are not alone. At Dental Care Center of South Kansas City, we work every day with patients who are just like you! Our dental team offers a variety of comfort and sedation options to help you — and any other patient who may have trouble with dental fear or anxiety — get the care you need.
Avoiding Dental Care
By avoiding regular dental care, you are setting yourself up to have major dental health problems that could be very painful or expensive! Our team of dentist can help you get the sedation you need to seek treatment while your problem is small! Don’t let your dental fear or anxiety ruin your oral health. You can get the care you need and stay completely comfortable while doing so.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide sedation, also known as laughing gas, is our lowest level of sedation. Nitrous oxide is used to calm mildly anxious patients. When inhaled, this gas creates a sense of euphoria, effectively settling any nerves that may be present.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is our mid-level sedation option and is used in cases of moderate anxiety or mild fear. It is a pill ingested before your appointment and creates a sense of grogginess. This deep sense of relaxation is great because it still allows you to remain conscious and responsive during the procedure.
IV sedation is our heaviest form of sedation and is used for patients who are very anxious or fearful. We can also use it for patients who are undergoing long or complicated procedures. This form of sedation will put you in a sleep-like state while also allowing you to continue to communicate with our team. You will not remember anything from your treatment.
