Sometimes a tooth needs to be pulled, whether it's a wisdom tooth or one that's just broken down and is unsavable. One of the things that I was fortunate enough to do is when I first got out of dental school, I practiced in a practice, north of the river, that did a lot of oral surgery. I kind of got thrown into it. For good or better, it ended up really, really, being a good thing for me because I was able to learn a lot of nice procedures. There's very, very, few teeth that we can't remove. Some wisdom teeth, if they're horizontal and then the bone really far back, I'll use an oral surgeon for the simple reason that I want that patient completely sedated so that they're not feeling that, because that's a rough procedure. Anything else beyond that, we will routinely take care of in this practice. It's a great benefit for our patients because it's amazing how many patients are so please when they realize that they don't have to be sent away to go have that tooth removed or worked on. Some of the other oral surgery procedures we have would be what I refer to as the gingivitis, or the gingivectomies. If we have a minor cyst or something like that, we can take those out. We're both, Dr. Cummings and myself, are very aware of staying on tops of things like oral cancers. She had a case last year she was able to pick up on and save the patient's life for that reason. I had one quite a few years ago that was like that as well. As far as oral surgery goes, we do the routine procedures and additionally we do quite a few wisdom teeth as well.

Here are some of the oral surgery treatments we offer:

  • Tooth extractions to get rid of teeth that are beyond repair before they begin to affect the health of your surrounding teeth and mouth
  • Wisdom teeth removal to prevent your wisdom teeth from damaging your other teeth and causing you pain
  • Dental implant placement so you can get a sturdy foundation for a variety of tooth replacement options, including  dental crowns, dentures, and more
  • Bone grafting to strengthen and thicken your jaw so you can get dental implants securely placed

We will review all of your options and explain each step of the treatments you choose with you so you can make an informed decision for your smile.
